Acts 7:30-34
Forty years later an angel appeared to Moses in the flame of a burning bush in the wilderness near Mount Sinai.

Enthralled by the site, Moses approached to get a closer look and he heard the Lord‘s voice:  ‘I am the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.’ Trembling with fear, Moses didn’t dare to investigate any further. The Lord continued, ‘Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground. I have clearly seen the oppression of my people that they have experienced in Egypt and I have heard their groaning. I have come down to rescue them. Come, I am sending you to Egypt.’

Lord,
you know the pain and heartache
of oppression.

You remind us:
you are the God of our ancestors.
Just like you didn’t forget them,
you have not forgotten us.

Like the flame of a bush that burned,
but was not consumed in our hearts,
continue to burn away our fear
and replace it with the joy of the Lord,
who is our strength.

Help us to get closer to you,
like Moses did to the burning bush,
so that the light of your presence will guide our way.

Every conversation with you
is holy ground!

We are so grateful
that you are a God who hears us,
knows us, loves us,
and comes to see about us.
For this we are grateful.

Bless the name of the Lord!
